The practice has been in family hands since 1970, is led by Armin Safavi-nab and treats patients with statutory (GKV) and private insurance as well as self-paying international patients. - We talk first. Your first appointment is a conversation, not a treatment.
- A stop signal. If you raise your hand, we stop. Every time.
- Tell – show – do. We explain each step and show you the instrument before we begin.
- Mild sedation if you want it: nitrous oxide, dental hypnosis (DGZH) or a calming tablet – you stay awake and in control.
- What we do not offer: general anaesthesia or IV sedation. If you need it, we refer you to a suitable clinic.

The Carlswerk is a former cable factory in Köln-Mülheim, on the right bank of the Rhine. Look for building 1.10 – there is parking on site.
Your first appointment – step by step
1. Book online or call us. Mention that you prefer an English-speaking dentist and, if it applies, that you are anxious – we then reserve about 60 minutes.
2. We talk. The first appointment is a conversation without the treatment chair. You decide whether we look at your teeth that day.
3. You get a written plan. Diagnosis, options and costs in English, with time to think it over.
4. Treatment at your pace. With a stop signal, breaks when you need them and mild sedation if you want it.

A family practice since 1970. topDentis Cologne has been in family hands since 1970 and is led by Armin Safavi-nab. Today a team of around twenty people works in the Carlswerk in Köln-Mülheim, Monday to Thursday from 7 am to 8 pm and on Friday mornings.

Do you take international patients without German insurance?
Yes. You receive a written estimate in advance and an itemised invoice afterwards, which you can submit to your insurer at home.
Can I book in English?
Yes. Online booking works in English, and you can mention in the booking note that you prefer an English-speaking dentist.
I have not seen a dentist in years. Will you judge me?
No. Many of our patients come after a long break. The first appointment is a conversation; treatment starts only when you are ready.
Do you offer sedation or sleep dentistry?
We offer nitrous oxide, dental hypnosis and oral sedation (a calming tablet). We do not offer general anaesthesia or IV sedation; if you need it, we refer you to a suitable clinic.
How much does a first appointment cost, and is there parking?
For patients with German statutory insurance the check-up is covered. Self-paying patients receive the fee for the examination in advance on request. There is parking at the Carlswerk – ask our front desk for the nearest entrance when you book.
